Breaking down the microbiology world one bite at a time

Julia Simpson

Writer

I’m a PhD Candidate in Biomedical Sciences (Virology track) at Penn State College of Medicine studying the viral and cellular factors involved with human cytomegalovirus infection. Aside from academics, I am also the editor-in-chief for the College of Medicine’s grad student science communication blog. I’m a firm believer that science is for everyone (since it certainly affects everyone!), and I love writing about science in a way that’s accessible and understandable to lay audiences. I hope to pursue a career in science communication and/or science policy. Outside the lab, I love reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, hiking, gardening, and trying new loose-leaf tea!
