Breaking down the microbiology world one bite at a time

Ines Thiers

Writer

I’m a bio‑engineer who loves talking about science almost as much as doing it. My PhD at KU Leuven focused on how Salmonella interacts with the gut and microbiome, and that research pulled me head‑first into the endlessly fascinating world of gut microbes. The more I read and learn, the more intrigued I am! My curiosity and the inability to keep cool science to myself, led me to start writing for MicroBites. Next to MicroBites, I also write short pieces for EOS (Ines Thiers | EOS Wetenschap) and I’m involved in several science communication projects, such as Kinderuniversiteit.

When I’m not writing, I am running, dancing, cooking or travelling!
