Breaking down the microbiology world one bite at a time

I am a Biomedical Scientist (Basic and Translational Research) born and raised in Antwerp. I developed an interest in Microbiology during my studies, which ultimately resulted in my thesis project on a novel agent for targeted gut microbiome modulation – very vague description, but I signed an NDA. This project shifted my interest towards the human gut microbiome and the prominent role it plays in our health and overall well-being. I am currently not working on any research projects, but I want to stay involved and up to date with developments in the Microbiology field.

My aim at MicroBites is to share my ‘knowledge’, fascination, and enthusiasm for this wonderful invisible ecosystem of tiny organisms in a way that is accessible and easy to digest – pun intended. I my spare time, you’ll find me caring for my ‘little’ plant collection, going for the occasional run, or enjoying a concert/play/festival/… .
