Breaking down the microbiology world one bite at a time

Audrey Burnim, PhD

Writer

I am a recent PhD graduate from Cornell University where I studied the function and evolution of the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. My current research aims to identify enzymes important for human gut microbiome health using comparative genomics, phylogenetics, and other bioinformatic tools. I am particularly interested in the evolution of enzymes through host-microbiome-virome interactions. Outside of enzyme evolution, I am passionate about science communication and diversifying science.
