Breaking down the microbiology world one bite at a time

Originally from the Rocky Mountains in Montana, USA, I’m now living and working in Switzerland at ETH Zurich in the Institute of Molecular Biology & Biophysics. I’m interested in how we can combine different biology disciplines (especially structural biology, biophysics, microbiology, and cell biology) to answer exciting biological questions of how microbes and different organisms interact with one another. Currently, I study a protein in urine that helps protect us from urinary tract infections caused by bacteria. I love discovering new research and hope to spark others’ curiosity to discover just how cool microbiology can be!

When not in the lab or writing, you can find me in the mountains – skiing, hiking, or in a hammock strung between two trees.
